Accessory Dwelling Units – Bring your financial, insurance and assessing questions to this free workshop
CONWAY — The Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition invite you to attend an informative workshop to answer questions about financing, insuring and appraising a new or current Accessory Dwelling Unit in your home, in accordance with the new state law and your local town ordinances going into effect June 2017.
This free event will be held on June 28th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the North Conway Water Precinct Community Room, at 104 Sawmill Lane. Please RSVP to Victoria Laracy at email@example.com.
This workshop will feature presenters with information on buying and selling homes with ADU’s, mortgages and home improvement loan/financing products, appraisals and insurance concerns, as well as a legislative update and overview of the ADU law from guest moderator George Reagan, Housing Awareness Administrator from New Hampshire Housing and Finance Authority. Panelists include Kathy Sanderson of Bank of NH, David Infinger of Infinger Insurance and Nanci Hayes of Yankee Appraisals.
The fundamental requirement of the new law is that every municipality with a zoning ordinance shall allow accessory dwelling units as a matter of right, or by either conditional use permit or by special exception, in all zoning districts that permit single family dwellings.
The MWVHC worked with sister organizations, partners and NH Housing Finance Authority to support passage of NH RSA 674:71-73, introduced as Senate Bill 146, as another tool in the toolbox to increase the supply of workforce housing without the need for more infrastructure or land development. The legislation may benefit aging or disabled homeowners and their caregivers, single parents, recent college graduates weighed down with debt, and others by providing housing options that may have been otherwise prohibited in some communities.
Copies of updated ordinances will be available at this forum.
The coalition has hosted a series of educational workshops to keep homeowners, real estate professionals and builders informed about the new ADU law and the potential benefits. This upcoming event is sponsored by the Bank of New Hampshire, Great Bridge Properties, Northway Bank, Lupine Pet, and The Tarberry Company.
