The Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition is an advocacy group working with communities in the MWV to try and great an array of housing opportunities for residents in the MWV. In that regard the Housing Coalition is not, itself, a service provider for housing options. We work with various service providers and would be happy to connect you with them to help you with your housing needs!
Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher
Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers for Carroll County are administered by the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority. Looking to Rent?
As of Spring 2023 the rental vacancy rate in Carroll County is considered to be around 2%. This means that of all the rentals in Carroll County, only about 2% become available each month. Due to this extreme shortage of units the rental market is extremely competitive and fast moving. The Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition does not manage any rental units, however some local Real Estate Brokerages do. If you are looking for a rental we suggest keeping an eye on the Conway Daily Sun, Facebook, Craigslist, Badger Realty, or Pinkham Real Estate. There are some employers who have started to secure housing given the difficulty new employees have finding it, it is always a good idea to also ask your employer if they have any leads on housing.
Have Housing but Need Assistance?
The Mount Washington Valley is served by the Tri-County Community Action Program, they are administrators of funds like the Covid relief program for landlords/tenants as well as Homeless Prevention and Intervention, Food Assistance, Heating Fuel Assistance, and Weatherizing Assistance.
Looking to Buy?
Similar to the rental market, the "For Purchase" market in the Mount Washington Valley is also very fast moving and competitive. New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority offers down payment assistance and mortgage programs which can help first time homebuyers get a leg up in the current housing market. We also recommend talking to local banks such as Bank of New Hampshire,
Meredith Village Savings Bank, Northway Bank, and Union Bank about what programs they have for first time homebuyers, or homebuyers trying to relocate to the Mount Washington Valley.
